Usage Note
Milenio refers to a period of a thousand years. The phrase el nuevo milenio (the year 2000 onwards) became highly common around the turn of the century. The related adjective is milenario ('millennial, ancient'), which should not be confused with the English colloquial 'millennial' (generational term), usually rendered millennial in Spanish.
