Matriculación refers to the act of registering — most commonly for school or university enrollment (matriculación universitaria) or for a vehicle (matriculación de vehículos). The simpler noun matrícula is used more often for the document or plate itself (a car's number plate in Spain is la matrícula). The verb is matricularse.
