Usage Note
Manta means blanket (for a bed or sofa) across most of Spain and Latin America, though in some Latin American countries cobija or frazada is more common. In Spain, manta is also informal for a lazy person (ser un manta = 'to be a lazy bones'). The phrase liarse la manta a la cabeza ('to throw caution to the wind') is a widespread idiom.
