Usage Note
Legionario refers to a Roman legionnaire or a member of a foreign legion (notably the Legión Española). The feminine legionaria is grammatically available but historically rare given military contexts. In modern Spain los legionarios also refers to members of the Tercio de Extranjeros (Spanish Foreign Legion).
