Usage Note

Labio usually appears in the plural — los labios — when referring to the lips as a pair. The singular is used in anatomy or when specifying one lip (labio superior/inferior — upper/lower lip). Labio leporino is the medical term for a cleft lip. Do not confuse with labial (relating to the lips, especially in phonetics).
