inyectar

to inject

verb een-yek-TAHR Rare

Origin: Latin iniectare

Usage Note

Inyectar is used both medically (to inject a substance into the body) and figuratively, as in injecting money into an economy or confidence into a team. The reflexive inyectarse means 'to inject oneself.' Note the -ny- spelling: it is n + y, not the single letter ñ, and learners often misspell it.

Examples

"La enfermera le inyectó el medicamento."

Natural Translation

The nurse injected the medication into him.
