intachable

irreproachable

adjective een-tah-CHAH-bleh Rare

Also means

blameless

Usage Note

Intachable combines the prefix in- (negation) and tachar ('to cross out, to find fault with'), literally meaning 'not able to be crossed out'. It describes someone whose conduct or reputation cannot be faulted: una carrera intachable ('an unblemished career'). The form is invariable for gender; only the plural intachables differs. It is slightly more emphatic than irreprochable.

Examples

Natural Translation

Her conduct during the trial was irreproachable.
