instintivo

instinctive

adjective een-steen-TEE-boh Rare

Usage Note

Instintivo describes behaviour or reactions driven by instinct rather than reason. The feminine form is instintiva. It contrasts with racional (rational) and deliberado (deliberate). The related adverb instintivamente ('instinctively') is common in narrative prose. Do not confuse with intuitivo (intuitive), which implies a cognitive flash of insight rather than a purely biological drive.

Examples

"Su reacción fue completamente instintiva."

Natural Translation

Her reaction was completely instinctive.
