informatizado

computerised

adjective een-fohr-mah-tee-SAH-doh Rare

Usage Note

Informatizado is the past participle of informatizar (to computerise) used as an adjective. It describes a system, process, or office that has been converted to computer-based operation — un registro informatizado (a computerised register). The related noun is informatización (computerisation). Do not confuse with informado (informed) — the extra -tiza- infix is key. In Spain informatizado is the standard term; Latin America also uses computarizado.

Examples

"El sistema de archivos ya está completamente informatizado."
