Usage Note

Hurgar implies digging or poking around, literally or figuratively. Hurgar en el pasado means to dig into the past, and the reflexive hurgarse la nariz means to pick one's nose. Like other -gar verbs, it adds a u before -e to keep the hard g: hurgué, hurguemos.
