Humanizar means to make something more humane or relatable: humanizar el sistema carcelario (to humanize the prison system). The reflexive humanizarse means 'to become more human/relatable'. The h is always silent in Spanish. The related adjective is humano/a and the noun humanidad (humanity, f).
