Alarde refers to a showy display or demonstration, often of a skill or quality. The most common collocation is hacer alarde de ('to make a show of, to flaunt'): hacer alarde de su riqueza = 'to flaunt one's wealth'. The word retains a slightly literary or formal flavour; in everyday speech presumir de is more common.
