Usage Note
Hospitalizado functions as a noun (a person admitted to hospital) as well as the past participle of hospitalizar. As a noun it most commonly appears in news and medical contexts: los hospitalizados aumentaron esta semana. The feminine form is hospitalizada; the plural hospitalizados can refer to a mixed or male group. Learners should not confuse it with hospitalario ('hospitable' or 'hospital-related').
Examples
