Usage Note
Hinchar means to inflate physically (a tyre, a balloon) and also to swell due to injury or illness. The reflexive hincharse describes swelling up: se me hinchó el tobillo ('my ankle swelled up'). In colloquial Spain, hincharse de also means to eat or do something to excess: nos hinchamos de reír ('we laughed our heads off').
