Fronterizo is the adjective form of frontera ('border/frontier'), describing anything situated at or relating to a border: zona fronteriza ('border zone'), ciudad fronteriza ('border town'). Applied to people it can also be a noun for an inhabitant of a border region. Compare limítrofe, a near-synonym used more in formal or geographical writing to mean 'bordering' or 'neighbouring.'
