Usage Note

Flota refers to a fleet of ships, aircraft, or vehicles: flota naval, flota de camiones. It does not refer to a single vessel. In some Latin American countries, particularly Colombia and Bolivia, flota is the colloquial word for an intercity bus or bus company, a meaning not found in Spain.
