Usage Note

Felicitar is a regular -ar verb. The reflexive felicitarse means 'to congratulate oneself' or 'to be pleased about'. The noun felicitación (congratulation/greeting card) is used in tarjeta de felicitación. Do not confuse with festejar (to celebrate) — felicitar is specifically the act of expressing congratulations to another person.
