Usage Note

Expulsado is the past participle of expulsar ('to expel, to eject') used as an adjective. It is used for students expelled from school, players sent off in sports ('fue expulsado del campo'), and people deported or removed from a country. The related noun is expulsión. In football commentary 'fue expulsado' (sent off) is one of the most frequently heard uses.
