Evangelista refers to any of the four Gospel writers (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) — los cuatro evangelistas — or more broadly, a preacher who spreads the Christian gospel. In modern Latin American Spanish, it is also used informally for a member of an evangelical Protestant church. The word is a common-gender noun: el evangelista / la evangelista.
