estadista

statesman, stateswoman

noun es-tah-DEES-tah Rare

Usage Note

Estadista is a common-gender noun: el estadista (male) and la estadista (female) share the same form. It refers to a skilled, visionary political leader — distinct from político, which is more neutral. Do not confuse with estadístico ('statistician') or estadística ('statistics'), which look similar but are unrelated.

Examples

"Fue un gran estadista del siglo XX."

Natural Translation

He was a great statesman of the 20th century.
