Espeso describes physical thickness or density: una sopa espesa (a thick soup), un bosque espeso (a dense forest). In colloquial Spain it can also mean a person is dim-witted or slow on the uptake, though this figurative use is informal. The feminine form is espesa; the opposite is ligero or claro.
