Escogir is a non-standard variant of escoger occasionally found in some dialects, but the accepted standard form is escoger. Escoger follows the pattern of second-conjugation verbs with a spelling change (escojo, not escogo) in the first-person singular present. Learners should use escoger or elegir in formal and written contexts.
