Usage Note
Escaparate is the standard Spain-Spanish term for a shop window or display window. In much of Latin America the equivalent is vitrina. Figuratively, escaparate can mean a showcase or platform for displaying talent (este festival es un escaparate para artistas jóvenes). The word comes from Dutch schapraai (cupboard) via Flemish trade routes.
