Episodio can refer to a single episode of a TV series (el último episodio de la serie), a distinct event or incident in a narrative (un episodio violento), or a medical episode (un episodio cardíaco). It is a direct cognate of the English word. The plural is regular: episodios. In literary criticism, episodio also denotes a self-contained narrative section.
