Envenenar is the standard verb for to poison someone or something intentionally. The reflexive envenenarse means to poison oneself or to become poisoned. The related noun is veneno (poison, m) and the adjective venenoso (poisonous). Don't confuse with intoxicar, which covers food poisoning and toxic exposure more broadly.
