Usage Note
Entre uniquely retains the non-reflexive pronouns after it: entre tú y yo 'between you and me' (not entre ti y mí), which surprises learners who expect the usual post-preposition forms. It can express reciprocal action: se ayudan entre sí 'they help each other'. In colloquial speech, entre can also introduce a half-done state: está entre dormido y despierto 'half asleep, half awake'.
