Usage Note
Ensanchar means to make something wider or broader, and is used for roads, garments, and figuratively for horizons or possibilities. The reflexive ensancharse means 'to widen' intransitively — la calle se ensancha ('the street widens'). It is a regular -ar verb with no stem changes.
