Usage Note

Enrolar can mean both civilian enrollment (in a club, program, or company) and military enlistment. In Latin America it is used more broadly for joining any organized group; in Spain alistar or inscribirse are more common in civilian contexts. The reflexive enrolarse ('to sign up') is very frequent.
