Usage Note
Edad means a person's age as well as a historical era (la Edad Media, the Middle Ages). To ask someone's age use ¿qué edad tienes? or more informally ¿cuántos años tienes? — never ¿cuánta edad tienes? For a historical period, época is the more usual word.
