Usage Note
Ecuatoriano refers to someone or something from Ecuador (el presidente ecuatoriano, la cultura ecuatoriana). As a noun, un ecuatoriano/una ecuatoriana means an Ecuadorian person. The name Ecuador itself comes from Spanish ecuador (equator), as the country straddles the equator — so the adjective and the geographical term share an obvious root.
