Usage Note

Dudar takes an indirect object when expressing doubt about a person: dudo de él ('I doubt him'). When followed by a clause, the subjunctive is required: dudo que venga ('I doubt he'll come'). The noun duda ('doubt') is also very common; sin duda ('without a doubt') is a set phrase worth learning early.
