Usage Note

Dormido is the past participle of dormir used as an adjective. Estar dormido means 'to be asleep'; quedarse dormido means 'to fall asleep' (often accidentally). It also describes a limb that has 'gone to sleep' (gone numb): tengo el pie dormido (my foot is numb/asleep). Ser dormido is not used — only estar.
