Doctrinal pertains to doctrine, whether religious, political, or legal. A disputa doctrinal is a dispute over the content of a set of beliefs rather than practical matters. In Spanish law and theology it often contrasts with jurisprudencial (based on case law) or pastoral (practical ministry). The form is invariable for gender; the plural is doctrinales.
