Usage Note

Disipar means to scatter or dispel something — fog, doubts, fears, myths: disipar dudas ('to dispel doubts'), la niebla se disipó ('the fog dissipated'). The reflexive disiparse is common for natural phenomena dispersing on their own. It carries a slightly literary or formal register compared to despejar for clearing weather.
