Diésel (also diesel) refers both to the fuel and to a diesel engine or vehicle: un motor diésel, llenar de diésel. The RAE recommends the accent diésel to indicate stress on the first syllable in Spanish. In everyday speech, gasoil is a competing term in Spain.
