desconectar

to disconnect

verb dehs-koh-nehk-TAHR Rare

Also means

to unplug

Usage Note

Desconectar means to disconnect or unplug a device (desconectar el cable) and, colloquially, to mentally 'switch off' or unwind: necesito desconectar unos días ('I need to switch off for a few days'). The reflexive desconectarse is used for the mental sense. The opposite is conectar. Note the spelling: the prefix is des- + conectar, so there is no double 'c'.

Examples

"Recuerda desconectar el cargador."

Natural Translation

Remember to unplug the charger.
