Usage Note
Depreciación is an accounting and economics term for the loss of value of an asset over time — both through use (depreciación por uso) and in currency terms (depreciación del peso). It is distinct from amortización, which refers to the scheduled write-down of an asset in accounting. Devaluación is reserved for a deliberate government reduction of a currency's value.
