deliberado

deliberate

adjective deh-lee-beh-RAH-doh Rare

Also means

intentional

Usage Note

Deliberado agrees in gender and number: un error deliberado, una mentira deliberada. It implies conscious intent and is stronger than a propósito ('on purpose') in formal writing. Do not confuse with the verb deliberar ('to deliberate, to discuss') — deliberado is the adjective derived from the past participle of that verb but with a distinct meaning in common use. The adverb form is deliberadamente.

Examples

"Fue un acto deliberado para provocar una reacción."

Natural Translation

It was a deliberate act to provoke a reaction.
