datar

to date from

verb dah-TAHR Less Common

Usage Note

Datar is almost exclusively used in the third person with de: data de or datan de (date from, go back to). It is a borrowing from French dater. Unlike English 'to date' it is not used for romantic dating (cita / salir con alguien cover that sense). The phrase datar de is essentially a fixed collocation.
