Cubierta has several distinct uses: the cover or jacket of a book (la cubierta del libro), the deck of a ship (la cubierta del barco), and a tire or tyre in some Latin American varieties. The adjective cubierto (covered) shares the same root, as does los cubiertos (cutlery/silverware).
