Usage Note

Crucificar is a regular -ar verb except for a spelling change before -e: crucifiqué (not crucificé), following the standard -car pattern. Beyond its literal religious sense, it is used figuratively meaning 'to tear someone apart publicly' (la prensa lo crucificó = 'the press crucified him').
