Correa is a general word for a strip of leather or similar material used to fasten or hold things. It covers a dog leash (correa del perro), a watch strap (correa del reloj), and a drive belt in machinery (correa de transmisión). Do not confuse with cinturón, which specifically means a belt worn around the waist for clothing.
