Conveniencia covers both practical convenience (por conveniencia = for convenience) and the notion of suitability or self-interest, as in matrimonio de conveniencia (marriage of convenience). It can also carry a slightly cynical tone, implying someone acts out of personal advantage rather than principle. The plural conveniencias often means 'interests' or 'terms' in formal negotiation.
