Consagrado carries a religious sense (a consecrated host, la hostia consagrada) and a secular sense of being established or acclaimed in one's field — un artista consagrado is a celebrated, recognized artist. The verb consagrarse a means to dedicate oneself to something. Do not confuse with sagrado (sacred/holy), which has only the religious sense.
