Conocimiento is uncountable in general use (el conocimiento científico, scientific knowledge) but becomes countable in the plural conocimientos meaning 'skills' or 'know-how' (tiene buenos conocimientos de inglés, she has a good command of English). Poner en conocimiento de is a formal phrase meaning 'to inform someone of'.
