Usage Note

Confunder is a non-standard infinitive form; the accepted Spanish verb is confundir (third conjugation, -ir). Both forms are encountered in regional or archaic texts, but confundir is always required in standard written and spoken Spanish. The past participle is confundido and the reflexive confundirse means 'to make a mistake' or 'to get confused.'
