conducción

driving

noun kon-dook-SYOHN Rare

Origin: From Latin 'conductio' (leading, hiring).

Also means

conduction

Usage Note

Conducción covers both the act of driving a vehicle and the physical conduction of heat or electricity. In Spain a driving licence is a carné de conducir. In Latin America manejar is preferred over conducir for driving, so manejo tends to replace conducción in that context. Note the accent on the final syllable.

Examples

"La conducción en ciudad requiere mucha atención."

Driving in the city requires a lot of attention.
