Comprobar (o→ue stem change: compruebo, compruebas, comprueba, comprueban) means to verify or confirm that something is true or correct. It is more thorough than revisar ('to review/check over') — comprobar implies actually establishing the truth of a fact. Common in bureaucratic and technical contexts: comprobar el resultado ('to check the result').
