completar

to complete, to finish

verb kohm-pleh-TAHR Less Common

Usage Note

Completar means to fill something in fully or to bring it to completion (completar un formulario, completar la tarea). It is more precise than terminar in that it emphasises reaching a full or whole state. The adjective completo/a means 'full, complete', and por completo is a fixed adverbial phrase meaning 'completely, entirely'.

Examples

"Los estudiantes deben completar el formulario antes del viernes."

Natural Translation

Students must complete the form before Friday.
