Usage Note
Comienzo is closely synonymous with principio and inicio; comienzo often has a more dynamic, active feel ('the act of starting') while principio can also mean 'principle'. The common phrase a comienzos de means 'at the beginning of' a period (a comienzos del siglo XX). It is always masculine.
